DescriptionOur foundation is committed to enriching the lives of young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through great planning for adult living, lifelong learning, and community inclusion. We partner with community organizations such as the Gwinnett County Public Library and Adult Disability Medical Healthcare in pursuing our mission. With the library, we offer Open Your World Book Club, specifically designed for continuing to build literacy, vocabulary, and comprehension. There are currently 4 sessions of Book Club that meet virtually each week, each session at a different time (so more friends can attend) and reading a different book. Attend as many sessions as you would like. Everyone is welcome, reading aloud is voluntary. We enjoy our time reading from the text displayed onscreen and have lively discussions about life situations we discover in our stories. Registration for Book Club is taken at the library. We also offer Life Skills classes, currently once a month on Thursday afternoons at 3 pm. No registration is required but be sure to get on our mailing list. We teach Special Studies in God’s Word virtually on Tuesday evenings. Contact Pat for more information and a link. If there are religious organizations that would like to know more about serving individuals with IDD, we are happy to share what we have learned. We are able to provide consultation on Assistive Technology selection and training on chosen AT. Transition planning and goal writing support is also available.
